Today was quite a fun day, spending my day in school watching the celebrations.I had to rush to the hall because there was little time left to reach there(due to playing the national anthem at the field),which actually caused me to sit with my senior at the back of the hall,so some of you might not be able to see me at all.
What I felt about the celebration was that there was no program set at all.I was like:this whole thing is just impromptu, what can you expect from all this chaos?I am already sitting at the back,so this makes it more worse.Mrs Chan was like telling us to sit down, keep quiet, and wait for the performance to start. How can anyone settle down so quickly when they know that it is going to be exciting(note the irony later)?Even so,the starting where the teachers came in was total disgrace.I thought that there were two movements when we noticed one female teacher chasing the front of the crowd, making us think there were two groups of teacher,so we clapped. And guessed what happened.
Next was still okay, except for one of the lions at the lion dance which seemed like it had some human error. Then came the most ear-shocking moment, during the time the suona,a chinese instrument, was playing.Imagine jets zooming across your ear. That was what happened, which led me and my senior to shut our ears.OMG,maybe someone should prepare earplugs for these type of performances next time.
Then came the CNY song part, where each year, teachers would come up and sing along, but to no avail. Each year,it was noticed that some teachers were lip-synching(because of the microphones) and they didn't know how to sing chinese songs at all. What a shame,so maybe escaping from this horror would help, which was what I did, just running off from the crowd when we were all dismissed.
After the performance,my seniors and I gathered at obr(our outdoor band room, the room nearest to the exit)for an outing. However,we had to wait for Kang Ming to actually proceed(I think he had some council stuff to do).Till then,we were playing monopoly deal,a game I never played before, and I just won the first round(imagine being rich and having at least $20 million. That is called winning with honour). We kept killing time by playing until he came, then we left for Plaza Singapura(I know we are dismissed because we can then see our teachers, but my senior has the same primary school teacher as me.LOL).
Everyone knows that CNY and Valentine's Day fall on the same day this year,so we decided to watch Valentine's Day(YES!TAYLOR SWIFT!)at Plaza sing, not wearing school uniform and roaming around some public place where tons of school kids go.The place was quite packed at the top floor where the ticket counters for the cinema were, but it was only 12pm when we reached there,so there was no long queue at all,but who cares? Then,we bought tickets, not knowing that it would cost a group of 7 almost $60 for tickets!Luckily, the lady pointed out some student offer, which led to a $12 discount(phew!).Then,Kah Loon took out a $50 note and paid for it(instead of everyone counting $6.50 and throwing it at the lady).
Lunch time was epic, with us playing Monopoly Deal again at the food court.I felt we were attracting too much commotion as some passers-by came to look at what we were doing.LOL.There was also this cleaner who just looked at our cards, then left. However,we still had lunch. The show was at 2.30pm,so we just ate,and went up to the theatre.
The popcorn stand was also epic.Imagine a crowd of students queueing up to buy popcorn when the show was about to start in 5 minutes.I also pulled Bo Geng out just to see if there was a long queue.I FAILED,but we bought large coke before the queue erupted,so it was still okay. The large coke worked too, because the show was totally random, with the actors and actresses popping up from nowhere with an unplanned plot.TALK ABOUT PLOTS.We wasted 4 hours there, then went home.
And this was how we spent CNY.It was a memorable day.Till then,ta ta.
Signing off,
