Does rain remind you of this poem:
Rain,rain,go away,
come again another day,
little children,little children,
little children want to play

I know this poem is very, very childish, but this poem actually reflects the current situation about the weather,in the opposite way. What I feel about this is that the poem is more of a feeling that the writer wants to put across. He wants to voice out that the weather is bad as it rains every single day, which I REALLY,REALLY WANT IT TO.I would rather have rain for days and days instead of sunshine for a whole month continuously, which today has broken the record of 25 days non-stop not raining.

Reports show that the monthly rainfall level for the month of February is 68mm(excluding today),which is a new low set for the lowest rainfall in a month(other than one other month in the last 14 years, which I totally forgot). This is terrible,as there have also been reports of 'forest fires' in Singapore itself!Grass patches are not watered cue to the government wanting to save water, which cause them to not water grasses, making them turn brown, rot, and get fire, which causes the firefighters to use water to put them out.SO ISN'T WATERING THEM SAME AS ELIMINATING FIRE?

Also, the government has stepped up measures to let Singaporeans save water during this crucial moment.Everyone has to drink lots of water, recommended by the health ministry, due to the heatwave, but this also wastes water too. Therefore, installing thimbles in taps, spending less time in the shower might help out a little so you drink more water but pay the same price as other months.

Oh,I forgot to tell you what this heatwave thing is all about. For those people with blank minds, let me tell you more about this phenomenon, which can be named El Niño,or 'little boy' in Spanish. This phenomenon is mainly the southern oscillation of the wind, which causes unexpected freak weather in the Pacific.

The first signs of an El Niño are:

  1. Rise in surface pressure over the Indian Ocean, Indonesia, and Australia
  2. Fall in air pressure over Tahiti and the rest of the central and eastern Pacific Ocean
  3. Trade winds in the south Pacific weaken or head east
  4. Warm air rises near Peru, causing rain in the northern Peruvian deserts
  5. Warm water spreads from the west Pacific and the Indian Ocean to the east Pacific. It takes the rain with it, causing extensive drought in the western Pacific and rainfall in the normally dry eastern Pacific.
As the water warms, less water is evaporated and there is lesser rain,so too bad, don't scold me if you must, blame little boys the next time.Till then.

This topic intrigued me when I was reading today's papers about spanking children.Imagine Hamlet being a parent and asking whether to spank the children. That is the question.

What actually determines whether the children should be spanked or not to be spanked? The parent themselves. They are the one who control their own children, who take care of them and shower them with tender loving care and respect. But sometimes, they have to make a choice of whether spanking actually works for the better or for the worse. This is the debate of the modern society where times have changed from the traditional way(which is spanking) to the new-age way of comforting children when they make mistakes.

Senior minister Mr Goh said that children are nowadays, children are being pampered and taken care of too much by their own parents, implying the possibility of an era where children become 'fragile like strawberries' when they go out and face reality. This is true to the extend that the parents ACTUALLY know how to take care of them well enough so they won't become 'fragile like strawberries' the time when they meet the world. As more new-age parents appear out of the blue, some might wonder whether children nowadays should be taught the 'soft' way instead of the 'hard' way of spanking. That brings me to my point of 'What is wrong with the disciplinary methods imposed towards the children nowadays, when the oldern tradition of spanking, scolding and simply doing as you were told were par for the course?'(The Sunday Times,7th March,'To cane...or not to cane a child')

Now,many parents are reading self-help books on parenting or attending talks organised by associations that teach them about parenting methods, which leads to a perception that a certain method is useful and should be used. This is mainly for the soft approach of allowing freedom for the children to voice out their opinions and views(imagine Super Nanny to the rescue),which is the trend for parents who feel children should be seen and heard.Parents these days allow children more freedom of speech and spend more time with them instead of using the forceful and 'just-do-it' approach of spanking.

Thoughts on the much-debated physical punishment have been ignored by some who have never spanked their children before. One of the parents,Elaine Lau,32,believes in motivating her children to make their own decisions, encouraging them to have a say in matters rather than have them merely understanding and following instructions,or even following instructions the children may not understand much.

Indeed, experts have also voiced their opinion that parents rationalize the possibilities of whether to spank children.Working parents want their children to have a memorable time with them, therefore not being harsh with them. Also, experts point out that with different media, children now develop faster and must be taught differently.Nevertheless,it depends on the parents is they want the easy way or the hard way.

However, for every new-age parent, there is of course a traditional parent who believes the hard way can solve all troubles relating to discipline. These parents are mainly those who have experienced this kind of torture towards themselves before. They feel that what their parents have done is grooming themselves into proud parents who do well in anything, therefore imparting this sense into their own children. However,it is the same factor that leads to some parents thinking that spanking is tough for the children because they have felt it before.

What do you feel about it?Comment on it.Till then.

I'm back again! This time,it's time to reveal some little facts about myself
(which I don't normally do,but I really want to):
1.I DO EMO AT HOME.
This might be untrue,as I facebook at home,go online on msn etc,but I REALLY DO.My brother just does his own work or watch television programs, but I have tons of stuff to do,being back at home by 7.30 pm every single day except weekends. This results in me rushing with my work as I am forced to sleep by 10pm every single day except weekends(again).Emoing might work in this case, where I just think and voice out my opinions about this over here,or somewhere where I can see for myself, when I know that I cannot take it any longer.

2.I DO LIKE OTHER LANGUAGES.
That is why I read language books every weekend when I have the time to.Learning another language is helpful when you graduate and venture overseas, but one must also grasp his/her own mother tongue and english before learning a third land, fourth lang, and even a fifth lang!Currently,I am reading more of Italian(talk about gluttony in the history paper!)and also Korean by listening to kpop and getting the translation online.I do this when I am free, not when I know that I have other work to do.

3.I LIKE SOMEONE,BUT I DON'T DARE TO SAY IT IN FRONT OF HIM/HER.
This is 100% true.I tried this once only, but the reply I got was:"Really?OMG,I thought you were just joking."Totally a disaster. That is why I don't do that now, saying I like you in front of your face when I have the urge to.This makes me awkward, and feeling awkward is one of my traits and my weaknesses. That is why I don't do this anymore.

4.I LIE WHEN I KNOW SOMEONE WON'T KNOW I LIED.
This is the truth of me.I lie very well, such that it takes me a whole week to make the lie surface out when everyone has absorbed the lie!I can really lie to someone if I want to,and that I can really control this lie for all I want(if that person is gullible enough to fall for it).I know this is not good, but I really have to make some white lies to make myself equal on both sides of the equation where it is always 'you fall on one side, you lose the game immediately'.I can tell you the truth now that I lied to the whole class, not together, but from one person to another.

5.I RANT,NOT HERE,BUT SOMEWHERE.
Who doesn't?There is always something in life you really hate, and it is impossible not to rant about it.I don't show this in front of you,but if I cannot stand it any longer,I just surface it when everyone I know also hates it.It's called mob mentality. To rebel against it and show your true colours about the subject, one has to form a group where everyone has the same mentality before trying to rebel against it.

That is the truth.Till then.

Today was quite a fun day, spending my day in school watching the celebrations.I had to rush to the hall because there was little time left to reach there(due to playing the national anthem at the field),which actually caused me to sit with my senior at the back of the hall,so some of you might not be able to see me at all.
What I felt about the celebration was that there was no program set at all.I was like:this whole thing is just impromptu, what can you expect from all this chaos?I am already sitting at the back,so this makes it more worse.Mrs Chan was like telling us to sit down, keep quiet, and wait for the performance to start. How can anyone settle down so quickly when they know that it is going to be exciting(note the irony later)?Even so,the starting where the teachers came in was total disgrace.I thought that there were two movements when we noticed one female teacher chasing the front of the crowd, making us think there were two groups of teacher,so we clapped. And guessed what happened.
Next was still okay, except for one of the lions at the lion dance which seemed like it had some human error. Then came the most ear-shocking moment, during the time the suona,a chinese instrument, was playing.Imagine jets zooming across your ear. That was what happened, which led me and my senior to shut our ears.OMG,maybe someone should prepare earplugs for these type of performances next time.
Then came the CNY song part, where each year, teachers would come up and sing along, but to no avail. Each year,it was noticed that some teachers were lip-synching(because of the microphones) and they didn't know how to sing chinese songs at all. What a shame,so maybe escaping from this horror would help, which was what I did, just running off from the crowd when we were all dismissed.
After the performance,my seniors and I gathered at obr(our outdoor band room, the room nearest to the exit)for an outing. However,we had to wait for Kang Ming to actually proceed(I think he had some council stuff to do).Till then,we were playing monopoly deal,a game I never played before, and I just won the first round(imagine being rich and having at least $20 million. That is called winning with honour). We kept killing time by playing until he came, then we left for Plaza Singapura(I know we are dismissed because we can then see our teachers, but my senior has the same primary school teacher as me.LOL).
Everyone knows that CNY and Valentine's Day fall on the same day this year,so we decided to watch Valentine's Day(YES!TAYLOR SWIFT!)at Plaza sing, not wearing school uniform and roaming around some public place where tons of school kids go.The place was quite packed at the top floor where the ticket counters for the cinema were, but it was only 12pm when we reached there,so there was no long queue at all,but who cares? Then,we bought tickets, not knowing that it would cost a group of 7 almost $60 for tickets!Luckily, the lady pointed out some student offer, which led to a $12 discount(phew!).Then,Kah Loon took out a $50 note and paid for it(instead of everyone counting $6.50 and throwing it at the lady).
Lunch time was epic, with us playing Monopoly Deal again at the food court.I felt we were attracting too much commotion as some passers-by came to look at what we were doing.LOL.There was also this cleaner who just looked at our cards, then left. However,we still had lunch. The show was at 2.30pm,so we just ate,and went up to the theatre.
The popcorn stand was also epic.Imagine a crowd of students queueing up to buy popcorn when the show was about to start in 5 minutes.I also pulled Bo Geng out just to see if there was a long queue.I FAILED,but we bought large coke before the queue erupted,so it was still okay. The large coke worked too, because the show was totally random, with the actors and actresses popping up from nowhere with an unplanned plot.TALK ABOUT PLOTS.We wasted 4 hours there, then went home.
And this was how we spent CNY.It was a memorable day.Till then,ta ta.

This post is moved from my previous blog due to the new blog link. This is only the first blog post moved from there(I will copy the others over here later in the subsequent blog posts, which all of you cannot see as the post is set to 'me only')

It's February already!Time really flies!I really wonder if the time could be controlled so it could be faster or slower. One day has 24 hours,1 hour has 60 minutes, one minute has 60 seconds, and trying to type a single word would have wasted me 1/86400 of my month in January. This might be a joke, but it isn't. I am just stating facts about what really happens during this month of January when everyone just wakes up from an eternal slumber of the holidays and finds themselves overflooding with loads of information relating to school. One even has new information to get hold of(like having new teachers, new teaching methods, new subjects and so on...)!So,what is there to even understand about.
To me,January is just a wake-up call for students(and teachers too) to get up and face reality. This is it. Today is the day when everyone understands the true meaning of life,to experience and feel it,to understand and recognise it.Whenever it is the start of school term, you might see everyone trying to work or study properly, which is utterly impossible(unless you are those who actually have a lot of time or patience to try and succeed in it).
Maybe to you,January is just boring because of the fact that everything is hard(imagine yourself starting from level 1 and killing a level 100 monster,if you EVEN GET IT).Everything is just plain rubbish, loads of crap only professors can be able to withstand.OR,maybe it is just a new year where the whole cycle of working/studying repeats again, with a harder difficulty.NO matter what, one has to go through this(you cannot fast forward time or reverse it)and one has to feel the suffering, the fun,the experience of it,to be able to go through this and have a better time of it.
What do you think?Maybe you might have some comments for me to go through it.Just reply to this post or discuss it on the cbox to your right. Please note basic courtesy and state your name before posting stuff on the cbox.
With that,I end my post here.

Basically,my reasoning for moving this blog from my previous livejournal blog(here is the link if you do not know:http://chocolocoroco.livejournal.com) to this blogspot blog is quite simple enough. These might have trouble with my layout format, which apparently,I can't seem to edit. The reasons are as follows:
1.LAYOUT
Ever since I started using livejournal as my new blog platform,I found that it was hard to actually try to change the layout of the blog as it is already fixed for us. Trying to make my own blogskin is also of no use as there is no option allowing you to access the layout(try to think of 'Layout' as a button),therefore wanting me to change the blog platform. Some may think I am the busybody type, moving from a blogspot blog to a wordpress blog, then to a livejournal blog and now back to here, but I feel that all this hard work is worth it.
2.Followers
This is also why I wanted to move from there to here(refer to previous point for the meaning of the words 'here' and 'there').Did you know that livejournal does not have a feature where people can follow you? There is only a button to see the comments made by other people, which is not beneficial to me when I am trying to find out how much followers I do have.Followers does not equal to number of people commenting,so my only way to let them follow me was to link them to a twitter profile(which is actually mine) and follow my twitter profile, which updates people about my blog.Think about saving time using blogspot.
3.Settings
Some of you out there might feel that this might not be a huge problem to why I am moving my blog as they themselves can understand and follow the instructions.Hello?I am the one using, not you.Why should I listen to you when I am the one using this blog as a platform for communication with you?So back to the point. The settings on livejournal may seem more precise as they allow you to change every single detail about what is going to be changed when other people access my blog, but this process is too complicated for a non-it whiz like me to actually understand its language.
These are just three main points I want to share about,as there are still a lot more of it to go through within a time period.Maybe some other day when there is sufficient time can I actually go through each and every single point in detail.
Till then.
